Our Philosophy

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy and program are inspired by the best ideas from many approaches in this field- Reggio Amelia, Montessori, and traditional(to name a few) and created our own philosophy which is not static but evolving all the time. It is based on the image of the child as a strong, resourceful and curious being, desiring to learn and to teach, wanting to be loved and capable to loving, a powerful contributor to his or her own education.

Key elements of the approach we consider vital:

  • Negotiated Curriculum (based on the interest of the children
  • Open-ended questions and discussion which promote problem solving (from the “WHAT” to the “HOW”
  • Use of a variety of ideas and materials to explore

Three basic steps of or philosophy are:

Exploration – Investigation – Interpretation

We encourage children to explore their environment and express themselves through their natural ways of expression: words, drawing, movement, painting, dramatic play, collage, sculpture, music etc. The children are taught through hands-on, self-directed activities. This approach to learning process increases thinking and reasoning skills, while encouraging a child’s independence. We foster a child’s curiosity and need for fun. The program focuses on children and their choices. Our children learn through hands-on activities and developed skills are beneficial to the development of well-rounded children and will last a lifetime. The children enjoy making choices of what to learn. We are sure, we all would be surprised how wide the variety of interests our children have and want to explore. They know what they want. We must find out, respect it and follow it.
