Music and Creative Movement

Music and creative movement are an integral part of our program. Music and Creative movement activities help to develop motor skills as well as confidence, self- esteem and self-knowledge. Movement activities help children realize the full range of movement possibilities that their bodies can afford.

  • Are a way to communicate with others and represent one’s thoughts and feelings in creative ways
  • Can expand role-playing and dramatization skills
  • Develop skills involved in working cooperatively with others
  • Melodies, with or without words, and certain rhythmic movements and sounds can calm and soothe and effectively smooth transitions and changes
  • Enhances self- confidence and self- esteem

  • Scaffold concept learning through concept songs
  • Scaffold emergent literacy through lyrics repetition, memorization and connections between stories and songs
  • Enhance and refine both fine and gross motor co-ordination and skills

  • Facilitating motor skill development, particularly, motor planning and control, as well as enhancing integration of the senses.
