2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games

As all of you were aware, the 2010 Winter Olympic Games started on February 12th and went on for several weeks. We were very proud to have the Olympics come to Vancouver as it was a once in a life time opportunity. From the middle of January we were focusing on Olympic Games what they are  all about, especially the spirit of friendship and peace. We also  kept track of all the achievements and cheered for every country to do their best. What is coming next?

Every day is a busy day for us and everyday something new is happening. The children always keep us on our tip toes with endless ideas and challenges for our mind. We are getting ready for spring as well as Easter. We are planning to have our first Annual family potluck on the last Friday of April.

Soggy

During free play the children had a disagreement on what “soggy” meant. Some of them thought it was a bad word, others thought it meant up and down. We challenged them and asked them to bring some paper from the recycling bin and soak it in the water. The children noticed that the paper was wet, soft and it was breaking. Our Earth

We are continuously talking about our environment and the issues within it. For us Every Day is Earth Day and we care about keeping it safe and as clean as possible. Our children wanted to create our Earth so they painted a piece of paper blue, then found a big enough circle to trace around. The children then cut out the circle. They then spent time experimenting how to make a brown color for the land part. When the land was done the children used white paint and put it on the earth as the clouds. Apple Branch

During our everyday walks we passed by an apple tree and observed how it changes during Fall. When one day we found its broken branch on the ground, we took it to the centre and children tried to save it. The children then expressed their experience through painting.
